PREMIUM MINIATURES
Premium miniature toy soldier models are created by the second best quality plastic soldier brands. They’re almost always more affordable than luxury army men. As a result of their lower price, they usually aren’t as intricately designed, lack the same detail level of their luxury counterparts, and the molds may have minor imperfections. However, they are still reliable companies that produce minis with unique and interesting poses, at an elevated quality level.
The following toy soldier brands are considered to produce premium miniatures:
ARMIES IN PLASTIC
MARS MINIATURES
ENGINEER BOSKAVICH
LANARD (THE CORPS ELITE)
AIRFIX
MATCHBOX
NANOFORCE (EMCEE TOYS)
GENERIC MINIATURES
Generic toy soldiers are the ones that pop into your mind when you think of “green army men.” The brands that produce these toy soldiers have been around for as long as the toys themselves. Generic army men are typically designed to be thinner with less details than their premium counterparts.
Some generic brands offer more detail than other generic brands, but still may not have the same level of detail as the fancier, more expensive brands.

TRUE HEROES
ELITE FORCE
TIM MEE TOYS
BMC TOYS (MARX)
TRUE LEGENDS (CHAP MEI)

KNOCK-OFF MINIATURES
Knock off toy soldiers are the kind you’ll find at dollar stores, convenience stores, and cheap online retailers. They’ll have awful quality 99 percent of the time, and will be rife with terrible defects, horrid plastic flashing artifacts, and paper thin bodies. They’re bottom of the bargain barrel toy soldiers whose poses are stolen from better brands in the majority of cases. They still have a place in a collectors army as canon fodder do to their low cost.
